Because We Care Fund

No one should have to choose between buying food for their family or paying for cancer medications; or skipping treatment because they don’t have access to transportation. Begun in 2008, the Because We Care fund directly supports our families and neighbors battling this disease:

  • 59,620 new NC cancer patients in 2019
  • Approximately 618 of these are in Cleveland County
  • 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will develop some form of cancer in their lifetime.
  • To date, the Because We Care fund has assisted over 450 cancer patients undergoing treatment at LCI Cleveland.
  • To date, the Foundation has given over $275,000 to local cancer patients in financial need through this fund

With your help, we can continue to provide this much needed aid to those who need it the most. Every dollar raised for this fund remains in Cleveland County to benefit our citizens and their families.
